I'm an international student who lived at Sheares Gate during my first year in Cork. The reviews below are absolutely spot on, it is FAR too expensive for what you get (nearly double of what I pay now). On the surface it seems beautifully furnished but let me assure you that something - be it the fridge or boiler or even the sewage pipes will go horribly wrong during your stay there. 4 people are crammed into a little townhouse, and each room is a different size so it depends on your luck. I had rented for a full year but came back from the summer holidays to discover that all my belongings in the kitchen including new pots, pans, cutlery, food etc were THROWN OUT! The lady who owns the place even tried to pin the blame on me cos "I should have known they were cleaning it". Again I emphasize that I rented for a FULL YEAR and nobody should be touching my belongings at all! Only after some arguing did I get a paltry compensation. There is no accountability for bills, so expect that to be a total write off. My advice - shop around! There are tons of places which are in a much better location, shared with fewer people, for a thousands of euros less!

Wow. I just read the reviews and I had spoken to one or two families who stayed there and they seemed to think it was fine except that it was expensive. I suppose you pay for convenience. I have to admit that I have not stayed there so maybe I am not the best qualified to offer an opinion.
